Excursion description:
Visit the most famous places of Paros, always starting from your respective area of residence, with our English-speaking guide-escort. We head to Parikia in an air-conditioned minibus for a walk in the beautiful old town.
The first stop is Panagia Ekatontapyliani, the Byzantine Museum and the ancient Baptistery. It is one of the most important preserved monuments of the early Christian era in Greece, even the largest. On the south side, apart from the big church, it is the ancient baptistery that dates back to the 4th century and is considered the best-preserved baptistery in the entire Orthodox East.
Leaving the old town of Parikia, we head to the port of Pounta, to pick up the Ferry Boat to the popular Antiparos
- We arrive in Antiparos, after 10 minutes.
- Visit to the city of Antiparos. We pass the busy market street of the island, which connects the port with its central square and the Castle.
- Then, we depart for the cave of Antiparos. The space was used for pottery, but also for the worship of the goddess Artemis, which in ancient times was also a natural refuge. There we will admire the oldest stalactite in Europe. At its entrance is the temple of Ai Giannis Spiliotis and at the end of the cave there is still the signature of Otho, King of Greece, after his visit to Antiparos.
- Leaving the cave, we visit the popular beach of Soros, where you can enjoy swimming on a wonderful beach, overlooking the Salt Lake of Paros.
- We return to Paros and head for Lefkes. We pass by the ancient quarries, the primary source of wealth of Paros in ancient times. The most famous marble in the ancient world, Paria Lithos, was mined in the numerous marble quarries of the island located on the mountainous hill of Ag. Anyway.
Continuing we will enjoy one of the most beautiful villages of Paros, the first capital of the island, the mountainous Lefkes. Then we depart for the famous Naoussa and visit Agios Nikolaos, and its beautiful natural harbor with the Venetian Fortress. We take a walk through the market and the cobbled streets of Naoussa, seeing at every point the picturesqueness and authenticity of the village. We return to the place of accommodation at 17.00.
