Our excursion starts at 09:00 from Parikia. We walk through the old town towards the Venetian castle (13th century) and to the church of Saint Konstantinos and Eleni, which is situated on the highest spot of Parikia town. After we take the short walk towards the most famous, and one of the oldest churches of allover Greece, the Panagia Ekatontapiliani, (our lady of the hundred doors), built around 400 AC.

From here, our bus takes us to the port of Punda where we take the ferry to cross over to Antiparos. We stroll through the picturesque little town and visit the Venetian fortress (15thcentury) which is still inhabited.

Back on Paros, the bus takes us south, where we pass the villages of Alyki and Drios and then we reach Piso Livadi, where we take our break. We will have some free time to eat or even to swim.

The traditional Cycladic architecture we meet again later, as we reach Lefkes, the former capital of Paros with its lots of green and breathtaking view. We continue our tour to Marathi, to the ancient marble quarries, where the world famous marble was mined for some of the most known statues and sculptures in ancient times (e.g. the Venus from Milos).

Later in the afternoon we arrive in Naoussa, the beautiful fishing village with all its Cycladic charm. We take a little walk trough its small roads and the port with the colourful fishing boats.

Around 17:00 we are taken back to our hotels.

Every Friday French island tour

Visit of the church Panagia Ekatontapyliani in Parikia, a unique monument of the Byzantine art in the Cyclades. Later you will discover Lefkes, one of the most beautiful villages of Paros, built on the foot of mount Profitis Helias.

In Naoussa you will visit the Moraitis winery, you will taste wine which will pleasantly surprise you. Then you will have free time on Naoussa’s little port, meeting nightlife point for the young on the island, which still keeps its authentic character, a true cart-postale.

Lunch at Piso Livadi, port and beach on the east side of Paros.

At last, departure to Aliki, you will pass through the south side of the island and enjoy the marvelous view on the islands around Paros. In Aliki, Mrs. Popi will open the gates of “Scorpios” museum, Benetos Skiadas’ work, a local seaman. This museum contains a collection of miniatures of the most impressive boats, and in the garden, the most popular monuments of the Cyclades. In the end, return in Parikia

L’authentique Paros

La journée commence à 9h avec un « pèlerinage» au couvent du Saint patron de l’ile qui est à St Arsenios proche de la ville de Paroikia. La communauté des religieuses nous accueille dans leur monde.

Ensuite nous nous dirigeons vers la ville de Paroikia pour visiter le Musée Archéologique pour un apprentissage de l’histoire antique de Paros. Par la suite nous visiterons l’église Ekatontapyliani (avec les 100 portes), monument du IVe siècle pour une introduction à l’époque et l’art byzantin. Pour finir cette première visite, nous ferons une promenade au centre historique de Paroikia, un village avec une histoire de plus de 5 milles ans.

Prochaine destination est Naoussa, qui est le village des pécheurs le plus aristocratique de la mer Egée et le centre le plus cosmopolite de l’ile de Paros. Le vieux port avec le petit château vénitien est parmi les points les plus photographiées de la Grèce. Nous aurons le temps libre pour déjeuner.

Le village de Marpissa qui est peut-être le village médiéval le plus beau de l’ile est le prochain lieu de visite. Chapelles et ruelles blanchies à la chaux et un Musée folklorique aménagé comme une maison traditionnelle.

Dernier lieu de visite est le village de Lefkes, le village le plus montagneux de l’ile qui est l’ancienne capitale de Paros avec une architecture traditionnelle, la place du vieux café et le premier atelier des céramiques traditionnel de Paros. Retour à 17h
